Whether relaxed or challenging – the varied routes through the “Green Heart of Germany” offer the right experience for every level.

Cycling

For cyclists, the Thuringian Forest is an ideal destination. The diverse routes lead through dense forests, along rivers and lakes, and constantly offer new views of the varied landscape. Whether sporty on challenging trails or relaxed on well-maintained cycle paths – both ambitious bikers and pleasure cyclists will find the right route here.

In the Morgenroth you can relax perfectly after an active day – in the wellness area and in the sauna. Your bike is safely stored in the lockable bike room. If you arrive without your own bike, you will find a suitable alternative in our e-bike rental.

Skiing

Around the famous Rennsteig trail, hundreds of kilometers of cross-country ski trails are maintained in Thuringia during the winter. Even if there is no snow: The ski sports hall in Oberhof offers the possibility to practice cross-country skiing all year round. Piste fun for the whole family, easily accessible from the hotel by car.

Fitness

Stay active while on the go: In the Morgenroth’s fitness room, modern cardio and strength training equipment are available daily from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.. Whether in the morning for an energetic start to the day or in the evening after an eventful program – here you will find the right space for exercise and balance.

Towels and fresh water provide the necessary comfort. This allows you to work out, gather new strength and clear your head.

 

Kayaking and Canoeing

The Saale River and the Hohenwarte Reservoir offer ideal conditions for kayaking and canoeing. On the Saale, paddlers can discover picturesque landscapes and historical sights such as the Rudelsburg and Saaleck Castle. The Hohenwarte Reservoir, also known as the “Thuringian Sea,” impresses with its fjord-like windings and steep, wooded slopes. Numerous local providers offer boats and equipment, allowing both beginners and experienced paddlers to explore the waters.

 

Horseback Riding

Just a few minutes from the Morgenroth, the Riding Stable on the Ditch invites you to special riding experiences in the heart of nature. Whether you’re having your first experience in the saddle or have years of riding experience, the focus here is on the trusting relationship between humans and horses.

Guided rides through the charming landscape as well as individual riding lessons in dressage and jumping offer varied possibilities for every level. If you want to deepen your relationship with the horse, you can also experience groundwork or a seat training on the
lunge.

Fishing

The region has a lot to offer for anglers. In addition to the Thuringian Sea, the Klosterteiche Paulinzella (Paulinzella Monastery Ponds) are particularly recommended. These historical ponds were already managed in the 14th century by the monks of the nearby Paulinzella Monastery.

On the premises, there is fresh and smoked fish of the highest quality, including rainbow trout, salmon trout, char, eels, catfish and sturgeon. Those interested can rent fishing equipment and night fishing is also possible by prior arrangement.
